Matthew de Lira

Matt de Lira is a highly talented litigation and trial attorney.

Before joining Phillips and Pelly, Matt worked as defense attorney for one of the world’s largest insurance companies, litigating a wide range of injury accidents, from mild to highly catastrophic injuries. While working on behalf of the insurance company, Matt earned the elite Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation, a specialized education in risk management held by claims adjusters and risk managers. This prized designation provides sharp insight into how insurance companies evaluate cases, offering a unique level of inside knowledge which greatly benefits each and every client he represents.

Matt is an alum of the prestigious Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Trial Advocacy Project (TAP), a highly selective nine-week trial training program, and is appointed to serve as a Special Master for the State Bar of California in San Diego County.

Proud to be a triple Bruin, Matt earned his law degree from UCLA School of Law, his Master’s degree from UCLA’s Graduate Division and his Bachelor’s degree from UCLA’s College of Letters and Sciences. Born and raised in San Diego, Matt enjoys spending his free time with his wife, young daughter, and extended family.
